The on-demand bulk kerbside collection service available to the City of Gold Coast residents where a 3m3 blue satchel is delivered to households for disposal of goods not suitable to be disposed in the regular bin services. This satchel is collected and received to our Stapylton Resource Recovery for source separation and where possible to recycle the waste. To understand the types of waste being regularly disposed of by residents, BMI provides Waste Audit Services on behalf of the Handel Group for the City of Gold Coast to assess the resource recovery and recycling rates.
BMI support our partners by identifying and providing a detailed waste composition assessments of the waste into the following types:
- Timber and Green Waste
- Metals & E-Waste
- Concrete, tiles bricks
- Plastics,
- Cardboard
- Non-recyclable waste.
All bags are individually assessed, sorted and weighed by waste type to ascertain the diversion rate from landfill. BMI’s ability to recover and recycle waste received from this service achieved 83% landfill diversion rate. The audit outcomes are shared with our partners to assist with community education and help support the Councils commitment to recycling and upcycling much waste as possible.
