ASBESTOS CLASSIFICATION GUIDELINES
Asbestos Waste can only be accepted at our Stapylton Resource Recovery facility for disposal to landfill. There are many variations that affect the way the Queensland Waste Levy is applied and how the classification is determined.
Approval is not required for loads containing asbestos only, or for loads where no levy exemption is sought. Asbestos contaminated material is asbestos combined with other waste; to be classified as Levy Exempt, prior approval is required by the Sales Team.
To obtain approval the following information is to be provided with a minimum of 2 days before delivery:
- A report from a suitably qualified person (i.e. hygienists, environmental consultants) identifying:
- The nature of the asbestos (friable or non-friable).
- The number of samples analysed (for soil this must be in line with the NEPM sampling densities).
- The estimated volume.
- The required removal process (i.e. Class A, Class B, other); and
- Copy of completed Form 65, or other documentation of the removal process and removalist qualifications.
All approvals are subject to assessment and will be void if other acceptance conditions are not met as per the attached table. BMI reserves the right to refuse acceptance of any waste.
The table below outlines the product classifications for all asbestos products.
