Major construction works is underway across the Brisbane rail network with multiple Queensland Rail stations being upgraded and the development of the existing rail corridor. Soils and construction and demolition waste including concrete, asphalt, mixed construction waste, green waste, and soil that is not suitable to be retained onsite is transported for further resource recovery, recycling, and reuse.
Since commencement of the Cross River Rail – Unity Alliance Rail Integration & Systems Alliance (RIS) we have supported the projects’ environmental commitments to achieve sustainable best practise.
Delivering the circular economy goals receiving:
- 116,400 tonnes of Clean Earth, Ballast and Acid Sulphate Soils that had a beneficial reuse in the ongoing site rehabilitation at a former mine site at our Redbank Plains site.
- 31,500 tonnes of Concrete, Asphalt and Rock has been processed, crushed, and screened at our Acacia Ridge site to produce a range of recycled concrete road base and aggregates to be used in the construction industry.
- 2,400 tonnes of Construction and Demolition Waste including green waste, plastic, timber, and general waste is delivered to our Acacia Ridge facility where the waste undergoes a mechanical pre-sort and processed by C&D Resource Recovery plant further separating the products for this waste to be diverted for further recycling and processing.
