A former open-cut coal mine has been transformed into the state-of-the-art Ipswich Recycling Park, which officially opened on 21 September 2026.
Purchased by BMI in 2013, the site has been redeveloped under the leadership of Jess Irvine and her team to meet the needs of one of Australia’s fastest-growing cities.
New infrastructure includes a 4km concrete roadway, Administration building, Weighbridge, Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste recycling shed and Caretaker residence. Future plans include concrete and timber recycling plants and landfill operations.
The C&D plant facility houses a Turmex plant which processes 70 tonnes per hour with an aim to recycle 70% of incoming construction and demolition waste, targeting up to one million tonnes annually.
